Back in 2010, we introduced you to Alek Komarnitsky, who created a world-renowned, remote-controllable Christmas display at his home in order to raise funds to fight Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that doctors said afflicted his two sons.
His Halloween display was similarly over-the-top.
Now, however, Komarnitsky is retiring from the Clark Griswold game and selling his decorations. And his collection is truly astonishing, as you can see in the photos shared here.
As we noted in our previous profile, the display at Komarnitsky’s home could be controlled by folks from their home computers – and donations to the cause from the U.S. and a slew of countries across the planet raised more than $83,000 between 2005 and 2014, the year after he discovered the Celiac diagnosis of his kids had been a false-positive. His nutshell description of the physicians’ mistake: “Medical science is ‘hard,’ so not always 100 percent correct.”

Even though is Komarnitsky is moving on, he’s not parting with all of his favorite items. As he notes in his Craigslist ad, “FYI that the 9′ Inflatable Hulks and ‘skulls on poles’ aren’t for sale – sorry. Fifteen-foot Santa Balloon, Santa Plane, Santa Heli, Headless Horseman, Heads-Up Harry, Large Stars, Pirate Skeleton, and Alien & Frankenstein blowmolds are gone…but LOTS of other stuff still available…including a bazillion extension cords.”
