Every morning when yoga instructor Jeannene Levinson leaves her Stapleton apartment, she sees the area there known as The Green. “I kept thinking that it would be the perfect place to have a yoga festival. It was in my head every time I saw the space,” she says.

So she partnered up with two more yoga-instructor moms, and the inaugural StapletOM yoga and music festival came into existence. “We wanted it to be a family event for the local people in Stapleton and for the greater Denver area, and for seasoned yogis and people who have never taken yoga before,” Levinson says. “We’ve segmented the classes so that we don’t have a bunch of power-yoga classes in a row. We’ll have a flow class, then an acro-yoga class, then a journaling class, then an arm-balancing session, then a yoga nidra class, and then a family yoga class.”

There will also be wine, beer, an area for kids’ yoga, and live music. StapletOM opens tonight at 6:30 p.m. and runs all day tomorrow, from 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Admission is $49 in advance for a two-day pass; prices will go up closer to the day of the event. Visit stapletom.com for details.

Fri., Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 20, 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m., 2014
