Making learning fun isn’t hard, you just need a few pieces to fall into place. A fascinating subject is important, of course. A great teacher is a must. And if you can drink while you learn, you’re pretty much set. Those three pillars of knowledge come together this month at Nerd Nite Denver: GPS, Air Traffic Control and Human Health. The intricacies of the evolution of our health, why planes don’t crash into each other constantly and how the hell your car knows how to get you to work every day are solid topics, and the presenters include the one and only Andrew Novick, former Warlock Pincher and reigning king of the weird side of Denver’s arts scene.

“Andrew’s such a font of knowledge. He’s my dream Nerd Nite presenter — someone who is just hyper curious and wants to share all their random knowledge,” says Sara Wilson, head of Denver’s Nerd Nite. “I’m really excited to have him.”

Get your nerd on tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. — lectures start at 7, but you’ll want to mingle and pre-game first — at the Oriental Theater, 4335 West 44th Avenue. Tickets are $5 in advance, or $8 at the door. For tickets and more information, visit denver.nerdnite.com.

Wed., Nov. 19, 7 p.m., 2014
