Wrestlers and metal make for a mean combo — one that will totally rock the National Western Complex today during Rock ’N’ Rumble, a pairing of thirteen mixed-martial-arts cage fights and a concert by Christian nu-metal band P.O.D,
“Chris Camozzi versus Jeremy Kimball is a huge fight for us and a huge fight for Colorado,” says Prize Fighting Championships promoter Seth Daniels. “They’ve both fought a lot in the Denver area, and it’s been a while since either of them have fought in this city. Camozzi was a big star in the UFC…and Kimball is a current champion fighter.” Daniels adds that the fight card is “all bangers” — meaning no boring bouts.
The idea for the MMA-meets-metal show stems from Daniels’s love of music. After considering several bands, he and his partners chose P.O.D. because “we wanted…a band that people who came just for the fights wouldn’t mind watching. P.O.D. came to mind because everyone had at least one of their songs on their iPods at one point.”
Rock ’N’ Rumble’s first cage fight starts at 7 p.m. at the National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt Street. Tickets, $40, and more information are available at mmapfc.com.
