Missed the trip to Sochi last winter? Nearly all of the Winter Olympic freeskiing and snowboarding medalists will be in Breckenridge this week for the Dew Tour Mountain Championships.
It begins with the men’s ski slopestyle semifinals on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., featuring gold-medalist Joss Christensen, silver-medalist Gus Kenworthy and bronze-medalist Nick Goepper, the trio of Americans who swept their event’s Olympic debut. “The Dew Tour has always been one of my favorite competitions,” says Christensen. “We’re all psyched to get back out there together, and I can’t wait to see what everyone brings in Breck.”
All of the practices, semifinals and finals are free and open to the public (but be prepared for a brisk winter hike), with the main events staggered Thursday through Sunday at Breck’s Peak 8 superpipe and slopestyle venues. There’s also a snowboard streetstyle competition in town on Washington Avenue on Friday night, and electronic-dance-music acts the Chainsmokers — of “#SELFIE” fame — and the Knocks will be playing at Riverwalk Center on Saturday night at 8 p.m.; tickets for the show are $30.
