This was a sad, sad week for fashion. On Monday, May 8, Isabella Blow died from a drug overdose, and with her passed one of the most interesting, eccentric, fabulous personalities in all of fashion. Her hats alone were cause for celebration.
She discovered Alexander McQueen and Sophie Dahl, was the fashion director at Tatler, was once Anna Wintour’s assistant, and was responsible for the famous snafu of having models wear bikinis at a photo shoot in Kuwait.
Cat never met Blow, but she always admired her sense of style and self. Here’s the May 10 piece in the New York Times about her, and the obituary from Tuesday, May 8.
