Okay, now Patrick Roy is denying that he’s been offered the top coaching gig with the Colorado Avalanche, as the Denver Post has been reporting. Which probably doesn’t change anything. Maybe Roy simply doesn’t like the idea of current Avs coach Tony Granato being treated like a laundry sack filled with old jock straps. But it certainly provides a new headache for Avs president Pierre Lacroix. The only cure? Hire Roy one way or the other. If not, the weeklong tease about Patrick’s likely return to Colorado may well prove that there is such a thing as bad publicity.
