We can almost taste that Detroit-style pizza now: Michigan natives and friends Jeff Smokevitch and Giles Flanagin have fired up the ovens and are just about ready to open Blue Pan Pizza at 3930 West 32nd Avenue. The new eatery has been several years in the making; Smokevitch started Brown Dog Pizza a decade ago, but an earlier attempt to bring the concept to Denver was quashed in Washington Park. Now Highland will get the Detroit-style pie, as well as several other models, at Blue Pan. Mark Antonation recounted the whole story in last week’s Chef and Tell — and it was enough to get one reader salivating. Says Jose:
For once, I actually look forward to going somewhere that Westword suggested.
Have you tried Detroit-style pizza before? Will Wash Park’s loss be Highland’s gain?
