Table Top opened just over a year ago in a sleepy shopping center at East 23rd Avenue and Oneida Street. With a neighborhood hungry for local restaurants, a spacious patio/beer garden and a menu aimed at drawing attention without approaching cleverness, the eatery owned by a group of area residents seemed destined to become part of the fabric of Park Hill.
But no one is answering the phone at Table Top, the restaurant’s Facebook page is down, and reservations aren’t being accepted through OpenTable. A sign on the door says that Table Top is “closed until further notice” — and that “further notice” leaves some hope that the place could eventually reopen. But in the meantime, eating at Table Top is off the table.
By the way, Table Top is not to be confused with two other neighborhood eateries: Tables, a Park Hill spot that has been going strong for nearly a decade, and the Kitchen Table Cafe, just west of City Park, which also opened last year and specializes in Midwestern comfort food.
