While DIA has added many outposts of local restaurants recently, it's now making a run for the border.

Denver International Airport’s dining program has really taken off. In 2024, DIA launched 29 new concessionaires, including familiar names such as El Chingon Bistro, Mizu Sushi Izakaya, Marczyk Fine Foods and Bar Dough. This year, additions have included Tocabe, D Bar, The Bagel Deli and speakeasy-inspired cocktail lounge Williams & Graham, with more to come.

But as Molly Martin reports, one “coming soon” sign stands out among the local names: Taco Bell Cantina.

By spring 2026, Concourse A should have a fancy outpost of the legendary chain complete with booze, the first Taco Bell Cantina in a U.S. airport. DIA hasn’t had any kind of Taco Bell since 2018, when the Taco Bell Express in the Great Hall closed during construction.

And judging from their comments on the Westword Facebook post of the news, Denver diners are ready to make a run for this border. Says KL Brent:

Finally! Taco Bell was the best thing at DIA for a long time before they took it out during the remodel.

Adds Ashley:

I’ve been waiting for this! But why at the airport? I need one in Denver where I can get my Baja blast booze! Do I have to get a ticket to go to the Taco Bell Cantina? Can I just show up at the airport? So many questions!

As much as people bash Taco Bell, I distinctly remember eating at my first Taco Bell on Wadsworth sitting outside by the adobe brick fire pit with big lava rocks. It has a certain amount of nostalgia for me.

And Johnny concludes:

Nothing like Taco Bell before a flight.

What’s your favorite restaurant at the airport? Would you go to the Taco Bell Cantina there? Where would you like to see a Taco Bell Cantina? Post a comment or share your thoughts at editorial@westword.com.
