The Monday before New Year’s Eve is meant for thrashing, right? We recently announced a pop-up concert happening this Friday, December 19, at Topo Designs, but if you can’t join us for that, we’ve got a night of debauchery planned that you can’t miss.

To help raise awareness for our end-of-year membership drive, The Crypt has graciously offered to host a concert that will hopefully melt your faces and welcome a few more Westword members who support local journalism. Attendees can also mix and mingle with Westword staff and contributors.

Concert Details

Join us Monday, December 29, at the Crypt, 1618 East 17th Avenue, for sets by Denver’s own Broken Record and Insipidus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and Broken Record will kick off the night at 7 p.m. Each set will be about thirty minutes.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?

At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.

$50,000

Members can attend for free, and they’ll enjoy a free drink on us. If you’re already a member, watch your email inbox for the RSVP. Not a member? You can still join us for a $10 cover at the door. Or you can become a member now by giving any amount to support our newsroom and help us get closer to our goal of raising $50,000 by December 31.

About the Bands

The Denver emo-indie outfit Broken Record comprises guitarist-vocalist Lauren Beecher, bassist Corey Fruin, drummer Nicholas Danes and guitarist Larson Ross. Named the 2024 Best of Denver winner for Best “Stadium Emo” Band, Broken Record recently released its third LP, which we called the “perfect album for fall.” Find Broken Record on Instagram and Bandcamp.

Denver metal band Insipidus features Yoav Daube (guitar), Travis Hatley (drums) and Kane Pascarelli (bass). Westword music editor Emily Furguson wrote about Insipidus back in October, calling it one of the most unforgettable acts at the final Underground Music Showcase that wasn’t even part of the lineup.
