The Crypt was buzzing on December 29 as Westword treated its membership community to a free, high‑energy showcase featuring Denver’s own Insipidus and Broken Record. People packed the room early, turning the night into a celebration not just of local music, but of the publication’s ongoing support for Denver’s underground scene.

Broken Record opened with a blistering, high‑intensity set that transformed the venue into a pressure cooker of riffs and adrenaline. Insipidus followed with a tight, emotionally charged performance that blended grit and melody, giving Westword members a year‑end show that felt both exclusive and electric.

The event was free for members and had a $10 cover for non-members. You can become a member by giving any amount to support the Westword newsroom, and you’ll get invited to future events. Westword has $14,000 left to raise to hit its end-of-year membership drive goal of $50,000.

Watch for announcements of more member events in the new year, including our early celebration of Colorado’s 150th birthday in the Westword office on January 13. In the meantime, here are scenes from last night’s show:

Denver, make your New Year’s Resolution Count!

We’re $14,000 away from our End-of-Year campaign goal, with just a couple of days left! We’re ready to deliver — but we need the resources to do it right. If Westword matters to you, please contribute today to help us expand our current events coverage when it’s needed most.
