The Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division has issued its first recall of 2026, with the latest health and safety notice hitting nineteen dispensaries across the state.
According to a January 8 recall order from the MED, four harvest batches of cannabis from the wholesale cultivation Rotation LLC, which does business as Rotation Farms, are being recalled after investigators discovered they contained the banned pesticide chlorfenapyr. Another five harvest batches are being recalled because they were grown around the same time, the MED adds.
The MED says the four batches contaminated with chlorfenapyr initially passed testing, “but were later subjected to additional testing and found to exceed regulatory limits.”
Rotation Farms collaborated with the state to initiate the voluntary recall, the MED notes.
Chlorfenapyr is an insecticide that kills mites and other bugs by disrupting energy in their cells. It is approved for application on cotton and ornamental plants by the Environmental Protection Agency, but chlorfenapyr is federally banned from being used on food crops, as the chemical is considered toxic to humans and can be fatal when ingested.
According to the health and safety notice, the flagged cannabis was sold between September 12 and December 18 of last year. The MED has a list of all stores that carried or sold the recalled cannabis; customers should be able to find the following license number on all Rotation Farms packaging: 403R-01052.
“Individuals who possess this affected product should destroy it or return it to the store from which it was purchased for proper disposal. Individuals who experience adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should seek medical attention immediately and report the event to the MED by submitting a MED Reporting Form,” the recall advises.
Rotation Farms could not be reached for comment.
While this is the first cannabis recall of 2026, it’s the second in ten days, and the eighth in just over two months. On New Year’s Eve, the MED issued a cannabis flower recall, also for chlorfenapyr, that reached 295 dispensaries. The Rotation Farms health and safety order is the sixth Colorado cannabis recall involving chlorfenapyr since last June.
