The Claypool Gold Tour is one of Les Claypool’s most stupefying runs in a nearly forty-year career.

The world’s most outstanding bassist will be bringing three of his bands on the tour, and his fans are in a frenzy over the announcement. Primus! The Claypool Lennon Delirium! The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade!

In other words, it’s a complete Claypool fest, considering that he fronts all of the bands. Primus just christened its new drummer, John Hoffman, on tour last year, which included a mind-blowing Red Rocks show that featured back-to-back songs from the Brown Album. The Frog Brigade also came through Colorado in recent years; the project initially formed for a music-festival stint when Primus was on hiatus in the ’90s, only to be resurrected in 2002 for a tour and album, and then again in 2023. He started the Claypool Lennon Delirium with Sean Ono Lennon in 2015, after Lennon’s band the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger opened for Primus on tour; Lennon also plays in Frog Brigade.

The Delirium just released a new track, “WAP (What A Predicament),” for the tour announcement. And Colorado is lucky as hell with a two-night run: The Claypool Gold Tour will come to Dillon Amphitheater on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28. See more below for ticket information.

All bands are different, but in Claypool fashion, they have one thing in common: unfettered creativity. He doesn’t know a different approach, as he told me in an interview a few years ago. “It sounds glib, but it’s life. That’s why I go and learn to fly airplanes and why I drive my own tour bus and why I go out on the ocean and grab my excavator and go move trees around and hang out with really interesting people and make wine and swing gourmet wieners around,” Claypool said. “All these are experiences in life that you bring to your creativity and your output. You know, my favorite people have always had this kind of rich life. Some of them are dark. That’s life sometimes, but I find that the most interesting, creative people I know tend to reflect interesting, or I should say unique, life experiences.”
