Though it may be tempting to stay inside and watch holiday specials on YouTube, there’s plenty to do in Denver this week between viewings of the Pete and Pete Christmas episode and the Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special. Our top three events include a concert with tacos, an evening of orchestral Christmas music and free ice skating. Did we miss a bargain? Festivus 2013 at the Larimer Lounge (Monday) Celebrate the holidays with music and tacos at the Larimer Lounge tonight. The club’s annual Festivus will feature tunes by Ol Hickory, Casey James Prestwood and the Burning Angels, Crocodile Darlings and Bottle Rocket Science; there will also be food from Illegal Pete’s. But remember: The event is only free if you arrive before 9 p.m.; after that, you’ll pay $7 admission. Christmas Eve Music at St. Augustine’s Orthodox Church (Tuesday) You don’t have to be religious to enjoy the sweet sounds of Christmas music. St. Augustine’s Orthodox Church will host a late-night service with classic holiday tunes performed by the Ambrosian Chorister and Orchestra accompanied by harp, organ and cello. The music will start at 11:30 p.m. and lead up to the Midnight Mass. Go Iceskaing at Southwest Rink at Skyline Park (Monday-Thursday) Not much (besides movie theaters) is open on Christmas Day, but the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park has a slick deal for you all week: Skating is free if you bring your own skates, and rental is only $2 if you don’t. The rinks is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
