Color tonight’s Mixed Bag Festival green. According to Heidi B, one of the event’s organizers (although she prefers the title “funklectic mistress”), the bash is “a mix of music, fashion and art involving a lot of people and businesses in the local Denver community.” But along with entertainment that includes live sets by bands such as Rhythm Vision and Lawhead, fashion shows, hula-hoop and breakdance performances and artists creating paintings on site, attendees will get lessons in shrinking their carbon footprint from Earth Concept, Inc. “The entire venue will run on wind power,” Ms. B notes, “and there’ll be videos showing people about sustainability — small things they can do in their everyday lives to help.”

In other words, this Mixed Bag is recyclable.

The festival gets under way at 7 p.m. at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom, 2637 Welton Street. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. For more information, phone 303-297-1772 or surf to www.mixedbagfestival.com.
