In the last decade, the green movement has gone from the commune to the halls of Congress, from activist groups to ad agencies. Everywhere you look, there are green building and green businesses and green lifestyles. And while it’s easy enough to buy energy-saving light bulbs or ride your bike to work, how can you really take part?
Find out at Denver’s first Green Festival, where you can learn the ins and outs of sustainable living. Activities include live concerts and nationally renowned speakers like Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, Pangea CEO Joshua Onysko, Global Exchange co-founder Kevin Danaher and Green America director Alisa Gravitz. There will also be an organic beer and wine garden, a sustainable marketplace and a series of hands-on workshops about composting, green cleaning, home-energy audits and the like.
The festival runs today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street. Tickets are $15 for two days or $10 for union members, students, seniors and those who come by bike or bus. For specifics, go to www.greenfestivals.org.
