Michael Paglia writes on page 35 of this week’s Westword, and online at “Faces, Places & Spaces,” that even if Faces, Places & Spaces, Collin Parson’s first effort as exhibition manager, isn’t up to the lofty standard of the Robert Mangold retrospective earlier this year — and it isn’t — the exhibit has plenty to recommend it, notably the high quality of the material included.

Adding to the strength of the show are some non-art aspects, including Parson enlisting many of the city’s galleries to serve as allies and collaborators, the high number of Colorado artists, and a catalogue for sale that reproduces examples of each artist’s pieces.

“Parson has used the show to support the local art community,” Paglia writes. “He deserves a big pat on the back for that.”

Below are some samples from the show.
