First gaining national attention in 2006 with his Senior Youth Correspondent appearances on The Daily Show, Demetri Martin has developed a multi-layered persona that includes both long-form, TEDTalks-style commentaries, and Mitch Hedberg-inspired micro-jokes aided by a guitar, a harmonica, and a few campy visual aides. One of the most unusual comedic voices of the last decade, he regularly charms audiences with his neurotic, penetrating stare, deadpan delivery and faux shyness.

He’s also a familiar name with Denver comedy fans, and cited the city on his second comedy album, 2012’s Standup Comedian: “I’ve got a business idea. I’m going to open a store in the Chicago Airport, right by one of the gates, and I’ll just sell stuff that says ‘Denver’ on it. When people land, they’ll see the store and say, ‘Oh, shit. Uh, Honey?’ People will come up to me and say, ‘This is Chicago — you’re selling stuff that says “Denver” on it.’ And I’ll say ‘Oh, shit, you’re right. Guess I’ll just have to write “not” on everything.’ Big market for stuff that says ‘Not Denver.’”
