Once summer is no longer marked by the end of the school year, what’s a grownup to do? Tonight’s Summer Camp With Adult Drinks at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver aims to answer that by inviting guests to unwind on the museum’s rooftop deck with hand-crafted cocktails, live music, and a fantastic view of the city.
“As people who work here, it’s our favorite thing to do,” says MCA programming director Sarah Kate Baie about the rooftop reception. “We really wanted it to be something our visitors could experience, too.”
This evening serves as a kickoff “orientation” party for the upcoming season of weekly programming made just for campers 21 and older. It includes a sampling of the Beverage Counselor series on Wednesdays and music nights with the Super Friends Music Alliance on Fridays. There will be a cookout with sausage from the Continental Cafe, camp songs improvised by a rotating cast of musicians, and guest bartender Ryan Layman from Steuben’s mixing drinks.
Summer Camp runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on the roof of the MCA, 1485 Delgany Street; it’s free for members and $5 for visitors. Camp-related events take place Wednesday through Friday throughout the season. For more information, visit mcadenver.org or call 303-298-7554.
