A haunted hotel didn’t work out so well for the Torrance family in The Shining, but local promoter Kevin Larson is sure guests will find his haunted hotel much more appealing than the Overlook. Larson is expecting about 2,500 people to attend his Haunted Hotel Colorado 2009 — billed as “Colorado’s Largest Halloween Party” — at the Hyatt Regency DTC tonight. “We wanted to do…something different than just a nightclub,” Larson says. “We have the entire hotel with special discounted rooms, which we hope encourages guests not to drink and drive…. It’s all about the party and the live music.”
The party will feature U2 cover band Under the Blood Red Sky and Funkiphino, as well as aerial performers, dance troupes, go-go dancers and an official Mixed Martial Arts ring with a bout between a giant teddy bear and Godzilla, which is sure to make this a strange but memorable night.
Discounted pre-sale general admission and VIP tickets are available at www.kevinlarsonpresents.com or by calling Things That Glow at 303-751-4569. Call the Hyatt at 303-714-4671 and mention that you’re with the Haunted Hotel to receive a special $85 room rate; the hotel is at 7800 East Tufts Avenue.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
