Although I moved to Denver for the mountains, my daily life tangles me up often enough that I rarely make it past the city limits. Sadly, I don’t even think about what I’m missing until something like TrailFest 2007 comes along. Starting today at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at McPhelemy Park, Main Street and Highway 24 in Buena Vista, TrailFest’s 21 guided tours along the Continental Divide Trail range from easy to difficult and include everything from hiking to the top of Mount Elbert to visiting a fish hatchery.
According to Paula Ward, co-executive director of the Continental Divide Trail Alliance, “TrailFest is a great way for people who are not experienced in the high country to get out on the Continental Divide Trail. Our free guided hikes and mountain-bike rides highlight some of the best scenery in Colorado.”
