The United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) will hold its premier amateur snowboarding event this week, April 3-10 at Copper Mountain with the USASA National Championships, bringing nearly 1,500 competitors from across the country to Summit County for the amateur championships in slopestyle, superpipe, boardercross, slalom, and giant slalom.
USASA is also presenting a handful of other events at Copper this week
in conjunction with the USASA Nationals:
On Tuesday, April 6, look for the World Snowboard Federation (WSF) Adaptive Snowboarding World Cup, presented by USASA and Adaptive Action Sports.
On Wednesday, April 7, check out The Monster Mash Invitational, a pro pipe jam featuring 12 riders who came up through the USASA system (CO locals JJ Thomas, Chad Otterstrom, Steve Fisher, Zack Black, Dylan Bidez, and Broc Waring, as well as Brennen Swanson, Danny Kass, and Louie Vito).
“Without the pressure of a World Cup title or Olympic medal on the line, plan on seeing these USASA alumni straight up destroy Copper’s pipe,” says emcee Luke “Dingo” Trembath, in a press release from Monster Energy. “Kids’ll watch and learn and the guys riding are gonna be pumped to give back to the sport they’ve got much out of.”
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $20,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
And on Saturday April 10, check out the Snowboarding and Freeskiing events of The Alt Games College Action Sports Championships.
