If you know any teenagers in a local school or youth agency, check out the Urban Riders Snowsports Club: The Denver Parks & Recreation program is the best deal running this season.
For $50 a head, groups of 13 first-time skiers and snowboarders get five full days of riding at Winter Park, including Winter Park Ski & Ride School instruction, rental gear, and lift tickets, plus snowsport-industry related activities including job shadowing at Winter Park, visits to local snowboard manufacturers and gear retailers, and a volunteer service project.
I spent five of the best seasons of my life snowboarding on the East Coast with the teens I worked with as a teacher in Washington, DC through a similar program: If you have an opportunity to get on the mountain and help some young newbies get their first taste of winter adrenaline, go for it.
