Design the Modern Board: Deadlines approaching in Design Within Reach snowboard competition

The “Intent to Submit” deadline for the 4th Annual Design the Modern Board competition is Friday, March 19, and the entry deadline is April 2.

The contest, sponsored by Design Within Reach and Never Summer, benefits the Snowboard Outreach Society, and the winner will get a one-off Never Summer board featuring the new graphics.

The entries will be on view at the DWR Studio in Cherry Creek on April 3. Entry details after the jump.

Design the Modern Board: 2010 Competition

Calling
all designer-boarders: Want to see your very own design on a
powder-ready snowboard? Design Within Reach’s Denver Studio invites you
to participate in our 4th annual Design the Modern Board competition,
sponsored by Never Summer Snowboards and benefiting SOS Outreach.

Graphic
designers – both established and aspiring– throughout the Rocky
Mountain region and beyond are invited to submit an original modern
snowboard design. The designs will be unveiled to the public for a
final vote at the Studio on Saturday, April 3, 2010. The Best in Show
graphic will be produced as a one-off snowboard by Never Summer
Snowboards (www.neversummer.com) and given to the winner. The first and
second runners up will receive a trophy of their graphics in the form
of a snowboard top sheet film produced by Never Summer.

Check out the board template and art guidelines, then email your name, company name (if applicable) and Intent to Submit to denver@dwr.com no later than March 19, 2010. SOS Outreach and DWR logos must be incorporated into your design.

Physical submissions must be clearly marked with your name and be
received at DWR ‘s Denver Studio (2500 E. Second Ave., Suite 120,

Even
if you don’t have a design to submit, you won’t want to miss the
judging event Saturday, April 3 from 6-9pm. Chill and enjoy the night
with beats by DJ Chonz, a large prize raffle, refreshments by Mondo
Vino and Red Bull, and a tasty food selection courtesy of Wahoo’s Fish
Taco. Your suggested $12 cash donation will benefit SOS Outreach
(www.sosoutreach.org), a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk kids
get out on the slopes.
