Filmmaker Rick Ray spent four months in India, where one-sixth of the earth’s people live, shooting his wide-ranging documentary, The Soul of India. Ray will introduce and discuss the new film in Boulder this week as part of the Macky Travel Film Series at the University of Colorado.
Along with such familiar sights as the Taj Mahal, the Himalayas and the sacred Ganges River, Ray visits the teeming inner cities, remote villages, beautiful jungles and abandoned colonial hill stations of the world’s second-most populous nation. In the course of filming, he and his crew endured not only extremes of heat, cold and altitude, but also found themselves caught up in earthquakes and riots.
The Soul of India will screen at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in Macky Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus. Tickets ($8 for adults, $7 for students and seniors) may be purchased in Macky 104 beginning at 2 p.m. the day of the show. For information, call 303-492-8423 or visit www.colorado.edu/macky.
