Shuttle opens on Friday, March 20, for what’s likely to be a token theatrical run in an advance of a DVD release — and it’s lucky to receive even that much attention.

Written and directed by Edward Anderson, who wrote the script for the 2008 Demi Moore underperformer Flawless, the film revolves around Mel (Peyton List) and Jules (Cameron Goodman), two hotties who board a late-night airport shuttle little suspecting that the driver (Tony Curran) has sinister plans. The usual weapon-wielding psychotic behavior follows, with two generic dudes (Dave Power and James Snyder) and a passenger who’s not everything he seems (Cullen Douglas) on hand to provide additional opportunities for bloodshed. The plotline would have been tedious under any circumstances, but it becomes even deadlier (in a bad way) due to Anderson’s underdeveloped visual skills, characters that would need major personality upgrades to qualify as dull, and a budget so low that several potentially impactful moments are dealt with via cutaways to save a few bucks. Moreover, the dollop of irony produced by the ending is served with a heaping helping of misogyny. My advice? Call a cab.

The ride begins at the Chez Artiste, 2800 South Colorado Boulevard. Get showtime and ticket information at 303-352-1992 or www.landmarktheatres.com.
