Gustafer Yellowgold is a friendly, flame-like creature who came from the sun and lives in a cottage in the Minnesota woods with his pet eel, Slim, a dragon named Asparagus (who loves corn on the cob) and a tuxedo-wearing pterodactyl. Morgan Taylor is an illustrator and songwriter who lives in an apartment in Brooklyn with his wife, Rachel, and creates all the silly, psychedelic illustrations and songs that brings Gustafer to life. These two unlikely creatures will come together at the Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Avenue, today and tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for Gustafer Yellowgold’s Show, a generation-crossing spectacle that’s occasionally served as the opening act for such bands as Wilco and Polyphonic Spree.

“It’s equal parts pop-rock concert and minimally animated movie,” says media contact Elizabeth Waldman Frazier. “There’s a big screen with the animation going on in the background. There’s videos of Gustafer and his adventures, while Morgan performs live in front of the screen.”

Admission is free. For more information, call 303-441-4492 or go to www.boulder.lib.co.us.
