$20,000

If you’ve ever wanted to walk in an icon’s shoes, a new show at Spark Gallery is certain to have your number. Myselfportraits: ode to icons and other absurdities, a series of self-staged and posed photographs featuring artist and Spark member Sally Stockhold as historical and fictional women of note, offers a fascinating, subjective view of a variety of strong female characters. Some of the personalities Stockhold assumed in her works include Ethel Rosenberg, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe and a fully stereotyped Aunt Jemima, all portrayed in richly detailed and costumed scenarios.

Myselfportraits opens tonight with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. and continues through April 20 at Spark, 900 Santa Fe Drive; Favored Flavors: The Spicy Side of Botany, an exhibit of botanical works by Susan Rubin, will also be on view. For more information, go to www.sparkgallery.com or call 720-889-2200.
