January is Learn a Snow Sport Month, and this week’s as good as any to get your whippersnappers whipped into shape: Keystone is hosting the second of its Kidtopia Festival events, Thursday Jan. 13 through Tuesday Jan. 19, building up to its signature family event next month.
Send your spawn careening down the Flying Dutchman for Kidtopia NASTAR races, or get your family groove on at the Disco Tubing course at Adventure Point. Then take them to the top of Decorum Mountain to meet Keystone’s avalanche dog, or to the base of the gondola to hang with Smokey the Bear and the Kidtopia mascot, Riperoo. There’s also ice carving demos to be seen, dog sledding and sleigh ride activities, family ice skating at the Keystone Adventure Center and — the main event on Sunday — a Glow Stick Kids Ski Parade on Discovery Hill.
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
