Many would agree that the best way to get through the holiday rat race is by lightening up, and tonight, there’s more than one way to skin that cat. Come downtown to witness the spectacular Grand Illumination (see above), then head over to Bovine Metropolis for Red Is the New Green, an evening of original sketch comedy designed to make light of the most hectic season of the year.

“Red Is the New Green is the perfect way to take a break from shopping malls, parking spaces and holiday stressors,” notes cast member Camilla Modesitt. The all-new material was created in-house at Bovine just in time to help you take a load off, she adds. “The writing process is so amusing. Most of the time, it just starts with a funny offhand comment that I hear someone say. Like if someone said, ‘Oh, she thought her Dad knew Santa,’ suddenly I have this idea of ‘What if her Dad did know Santa? What if Santa was like a regular neighborhood guy, but also Santa?’” Who knows who you’ll run into at this show?

Red Is the New Green debuts tonight at 8 p.m. and runs through December 23 at Bovine, 1527 Champa Street; tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Make reservations and learn more at bovinemetropolis.com.
