The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
Combining his love of pop-iconography with a classical and surrealistic aesthetic, Marcus Renninger’s paintings leave the viewer dizzy from the contrast of their unsettling beauty with their cultural familiarity. Renninger, a guitarist with Fingers of the Sun, is showing a new round of work that will be celebrated with a reception at 5 p.m. today at the Kanon Collective Gallery. He’s definitely achieved a new level of scale and emotional ambition since we spoke with him last summer, so we wanted to give you this sneak peak of Renninger’s impressionistic take on historic heroes like David Bowie and Marilyn Monroe.
