With fires raging across Colorado, many artists are putting their talents by holding fundraisers or using events to simply send good vibes to those affected by the fires. Tonight Denver’s youth slam team, Minor Disturbance, a 2012 MasterMind winner, will use what it’s got to bring awareness (and raise some money) for Colorado wildfire relief in a no-holds grudge match against Albuquerque Youth Slam Team.
The event will feature eight rounds and twelve poets, who each have three minutes to knock the socks off the five judges. There will be plenty of words and poetry spilling out as the highest-ranked youth squads in the Southwest go at it, all for a good cause.
The slam starts at 5 p.m. tonight at the Deer Pile, above City O’ City. The suggested donation of $7 will go directly to Colorado wildfire relief, although no one will be turned away.
