Project Runway: All Stars winner Mondo Guerra has a new collaboration in the works, and it’s slightly more utilitarian than the bold, fearless couture we came to expect from him on the show: a collection of funky and functional eyeglass frames for SEE Eyewear, a brand Mondo himself has been wearing for years.

SEE is a national brand that prides itself on carrying only its own designs rather than expensive designer labels, enabling it to keep consumer costs low — but the company made an exception to work with Mondo, making him its first-ever collaboration.

A rising star in the fashion world, the Denver designer created a stir during his run on season eight of Project Runway when he revealed, in a very personal on-screen moment, that he was HIV-positive. A year later, he was back on Project Runway: All Stars, where he captured the biggest prize in the show’s history — $100,000 in office space and technology from HP and Intel, a boutique inside Neiman Marcus stores, a guest editorship at Marie Claire magazine, and $100,000 in cash from L’Oreal, as well as a forum where he could continue to be a fierce advocate for AIDS awareness and research. A portion of the sales from the “Mondo for SEE” Collection will go to amfAR, the American Foundation for Aids Research.

This spring, you’ll be able to see the collection for yourself at SEE Eyewear’s Cherry Creek location — but until then, Mondo’s own penchant for stylish, retro frames gives us an idea of what to expect:
