“There’s a certain kind of person who is into both cameras and bicycles,” says Mike Kone of Boulder Bicycle, who helped organize today’s Rocky Mountain Regional Camera & Collectibles Show and Colorado Custom & Vintage Bicycle Expo, a collaborative showcase and market for people who love vintage cameras or old-school performance bikes — or both. “We sometimes see overlap between people and dealers at both shows.” Kone got the idea to join forces with the vintage-camera set when people began offering high-end camera gear in exchange for vintage performance-bicycle parts.
Going strong now for nearly thirty years, the Camera & Collectibles Show attracts vintage-camera dealers and enthusiasts; the Custom & Vintage Bicycle Expo, meanwhile, is in its first year, but should bring in handmade-cycle crafters and collectors of vintage performance and mountain bikes from across the country who are looking to buy, sell, trade and view new and used equipment.
Just $5 at the door gets visitors into the showcase, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 West 6th Avenue in Golden. For more information, visit denverphotosociety.org/SwapMeet or coloradobicycleexpo.com.
