Food and film go together like mustard and hot dogs, and you can get plenty of both along upper East Colfax Avenue, home to the Denver FilmCenter and numerous eateries of both high and low cuisine. That’s why the DFC teamed up with the Colfax Business Improvement District to launch Film & Fork earlier this summer.
Here’s how it works: Spend at least $25 dining at any participating restaurant Sunday through Thursday and you’ll get a two-for-one DFC movie pass. That’s a deal in itself. But there’s more: Every Tuesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., a different restaurant will set up shop in the theater lobby to offer free noshes to movie-goers.
Tonight, the promotion wraps up for the summer with food from the Satire Lounge. Be careful, the plate is hot…
“The response has been fantastic,” says spokeswoman Christina Brinkley. “We’ve been handing out tickets every day, and we average about fifty people coming in to enjoy the free food. We attract the type of person who attends the DFC looking for independent movies. They’re willing to try new things, and they love socializing before the movie.”
The FilmCenter is at 2510 East Colfax Avenue; for film listings, go to www.denverfilm.org. Visit www.colfaxave.com/film-fork-on-colfax for a list of participating restaurants and more information.
Tuesdays, 6-7:15 p.m. Starts: June 7. Continues through Aug. 30, 2011
