Imagine asking a roomful of people to scream out a name and location for your play. Add character, plot and theme, then knead and stretch until you’ve got (hopefully) a discernable beginning, middle and end. Got it? Now do this without rewrites, without rehearsals, without anything except your wits and — oh, yeah — make sure you’re funny and convincing and absolutely natural. That’s the basic layout for Bovine Metropolis Theater’s Play Incubator, which starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. and continues every Wednesday through August 29.

“We consider this the ultimate culmination of improv,” says producer and actor Linnea Brutlag. “It’s totally unscripted, totally unrehearsed, but it all comes together to make sense in the end. We ask for the name of the play and the location. People yell things out, and we take whoever is loudest.”

Tickets are $8; Bovine is at 1527 Champa Street. For more information, go to www.bovinemetropolis.com.

Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: July 11. Continues through Sept. 26, 2007
