The annual Art Director’s Club Denver Paper Fashion Show had a growth spurt in 2011. “Last year, the day of the event, we’d sold 800 tickets, and we figured that would be more or less the end of it,” says event organizer Shanna McNeal, “and then we had 400 we sold at the door.”
This time around, there will be fewer tickets available, so don’t count on breezing in on a whim to gape at the amazing paper fashions created by dozens of designers. McNeal and co-organizer Ally Feldman have moved the show to the Seawell Grand Ballroom, in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. “None of us really expected how popular it would become,” Feldman says, “so we’re paring it down and making it more of an exclusive event. We’re taking it to a whole new level.”
More than fifty creations — eye-popping advertisements of just what a talented hand can do with paper — will be on display, and the panel of judges will include local favorite Fallene Wells. The show starts at 6 p.m.; tickets range from $35 to $60 and can be purchased at www.adcd.com/paper-fashion-show.
