Summer Jackson is quite possibly the best big sister in the city. Her younger brother Johnny is the mastermind behind clothing design label Broken, and Jackson has nothing but nice things to say about his work. “A lot of his designs are very technical, bringing together a different perception for people, so you have to think twice when you look at it, open your mind and perceive things differently,” she explains.
And what does that have to do with tonight’s Punk Rock Fashion Show at Bender’s Tavern, 314 East 13th Avenue? “We’re doing it for two reasons,” Jackson says. The first is to launch the brands that will be showcased — Jackson’s own Eropersona, her brother’s Broken and her husband’s Jacksonink — and the second is more personal. “It’s my brother’s 21st birthday,” she says, “so I wanted it to be something huge and something that would fit his unique personality.” Aw.
The brands will rule the runway at 8 and 10 p.m.; in between watching the models strutting the catwalk, groove to the sounds of Buford T. Justice, Diesel and the Dirty Hearts. Tickets are $8 to $10; call 303-861-7070. For a sneak peek at the styles, visit www.summerjackson.com, www.brokenperception.com and www.jacksonink.org.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $23,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
