Ski season is under way, with Winter Park opening today and Vail opening on Friday, marking its fiftieth birthday. Aspen/Snowmass will be opening on November 22, but in the meantime, Denver-based Icelantic Skis yesterday honored one of Aspen’s adopted sons, John Denver, by unveiling a limited edition John Denver signature ski, created in partnership with the John Denver Estate and featuring a portrait of the musician by in-house artist Travis Parr.
The $699 skis — a variation of Icelantic’s popular Nomad shape, produced in a small batch of 100 — and $199 giclee prints of Parr’s painting are available for pre-order at IcelanticSkis.com and will be shipping in February 2013.
Far out! We asked readers who else deserves to be commemorated with snow gear.
