Ana Penalba is a triple threat: She’s an architect, urban planner and artist, but sees no delineation between the three. “It’s all just thinking,” she says.

Penalba, who hails from Spain and now lives in New York, has called Denver home for the past couple of months. She’s the current artist-in-residence at PlatteForum, where she’s been creating art and working with kids from the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation, teaching them about sustainable art. The result is Spatial Agreements, a show that features not just Penalba’s work, but also that of her students, including a replica of Denver as seen through their eyes. “We want the children to understand they have the right of thinking about their cities, to be an active agent on the future of cities,” Penalba says. “We need to start thinking about how we can re-configure instead of destroying, and build something else.”

Spatial Agreements runs through December 23 at PlatteForum, 1610 Little Raven Street, with a free opening reception (donations welcome) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tonight; Penalba will give a presentation at 6:45 p.m.. For more information, visit platteforum.org.

Thu., Dec. 12, 5:30-8 p.m.; Mondays-Fridays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through Dec. 23, 2013
