$20,000

It’s nearly impossible to get a good soul-stirring in Denver these days. You used to be able to venture down around 26th and Welton to get your grits, gravy and gospel, but now even Five Points is overrun with tight-pantsed hipsters. If you want soul in Denver, you have to import it.

BB’s on Pearl (1475 South Pearl Street) is doing exactly that with today’s Sunday Gospel Brunch. The fine-dining establishment has recruited the New Spiritual Wonders, an eight-piece choir from various Aurora churches, to provide some traditional gospel for soul-searchers. “They’re the real deal,” says BB’s promoter, Kevin Shaw. “They know how to get down.” Amen, Brother Shaw. Amen.

The Wonders will perform two seventy-minute sets, at 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. They’ll be accompanied by a Southern-style brunch — grits included — and a Bloody Mary bar from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $11 for seniors, $8 for children eleven and under, and free for kids under three. For more information, visit www.bbsonpearl.com or call 303-777-3463.

Sun., Feb. 18, 11:30 a.m.-12:40 p.m. & 1:15-2:25 p.m.
