Today at 11 a.m., anywhere from fifty to a hundred local toddlers, tweens and teens will gather at Aurora’s Fletcher Plaza, 9898 East Colfax Avenue, to compete in Colorado’s cutest sober-karaoke contest. They will wear special costumes and Sunday dresses, sunglasses and colored hats, spit-shined sneakers and brand-new shirts, and they will quietly rehearse their favorite songs while waiting for their chance to try out for the Aurora Kids Idol finals in September. If they are chosen as finalists and win their age group (three to seven, eight to twelve and thirteen to sixteen), they will score three hours of studio time at Globalsound Recording Studio — and guarantee a kick-ass performance for next year’s school talent show.
This tryout is the first of four in July and August. Get information about rules and registration at www.gunslingerent.com/aurorakidsidol or by calling 720-404-5973.
