Keep Westword Free
We’re aiming to raise $20,000 by April 26. Your support ensures Westword can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Ever since the days of prehistoric man, words have been bandied about over broken bread, with the cave-dweller’s friendly “Ugh” slowly giving way to talk of love, current affairs, politics or simply what we did today. If you’ve ever had a hankering to bring something new to the table — say, another language — then members of DU’s University College Modern Language faculty have the perfect soiree for you.
A Taste of Language pairs a spread of international bites with thirty-minute lessons in a cornucopia of tongues, from everyday French and Spanish to the über-hip tones of Chinese and Arabic. Meet up tonight between 6 and 8 p.m. in Sturm Hall, 2200 East Asbury Avenue, on the University of Denver campus. The program, aimed at snagging fall students, is free, but reservations are required; make yours by August 28 at 303-871-3155 or www.universitycollege.du.edu.
Wed., Aug. 29, 6-8 p.m.
