It’s easy to poke fun at the differences between Denver and Boulder, but for many people living with disabilities, the distance between the Capitol and the Flatirons — and the hassle of traveling between the two towns — is no joke. Tonight, PHAMALY takes the laughs on the road with disLabled, the company’s first Boulder production in its 23-year history.
The original sketch-comedy show features an all-Boulder cast that will riff on the humor and humanity of physical and emotional challenges. “Boulder and its denizens have a somewhat unique perspective on life in general, to say nothing of disability issues,” says Jeremy Palmer, who directs the show with Mathew Klickstein. “Some might say that’s just a cliche about Boulder, but sometimes embracing cliches leads to the best comedy. This is a cast of actors with an extremely funny and good-natured perspective. That’s where the comedy comes in.”
Collectively written by the cast and directors, disLabled opens at 7:30 p.m. tonight and runs through April 15 at the Dairy Center for the Performing Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder. Tickets are $20; call 303-444-7328 or visit www.phamaly.org for more information.
April 13-14, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., April 15, noon, 2012
