The Winter Wildlands Alliance brings its Backcountry Film Festival tour to Boulder’s Neptune Mountaineering (633 South Broadway) tonight at 8 p.m.
The Backcountry Film Festival premieres each year in Boise, Idaho. This year Jeremy Jones’ Deeper: A Snowboard Adventure From The Unknown from Teton Gravity Research won Best of the Festival honors. Tonight’s event, presented by the Colorado Mountain Club, features Deeper, Best Short Film winner Desert River and Best Environmental Film winner Whitebark Warrior (see trailers below).
Other films on tonight’s program include TELEvision, Cross Country Snowboarding and Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey from Aspen ski legend Chris Davenport. Tickets are $10 and benefit the Colorado Mountain Club’s Backcountry Snowsports Initiative and Winter Wildlands Alliance’s efforts to promote and preserve winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snowsports experience on public lands.
Here’s a look at some of the featured films:
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $20,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
