For the first time ever, Netflix brought its experimental dating show, Love is Blind, to Colorado to follow Denver singles as they try (and fail) to find a spouse.

The premiere six episodes of the Mile High season dropped on Wednesday, October 1. Besides b-roll, the city hasn’t yet been featured on screen. The opening episodes take place entirely within a film studio for the pod dating, and then a Mexican resort for the honeymoons.

Nevertheless, the Colorado backdrop seeped through in the interactions between the contestants; from Jordan jokingly boasting about the Gucci shoes he purchased at the Cherry Creek Mall, to Anna and Blake’s camping-themed date, featuring indoor s’more-making and “lumber daddy” flirtations.

Here are the top five most Colorado moments from Love is Blind, so far:

Editor's Picks

5. Ski Lift Rizz

The self-proclaimed “best skier on the mountain,” Nick, revealed his secret for wooing women during episode two: he keeps a cocktail shaker in his jacket pocket and makes martinis for ladies riding the ski lift with him. And if alcohol isn’t enough to score him a date, Nick said he watches the skiers below and waits until a small child crashes. Then, he points at the kid lying in the snow and proudly proclaims, “I’m better than him.” Hard to believe such a charming gentleman needed reality TV intervention to find a fiancée.

4. Will Marry For Housing

Joe may have revealed a glimpse of his true intentions for signing up for Love is Blind in episode two. During a date with Madison in the pods, before the pair had even met face-to-face, Joe mentioned that his lease is up in July and suggested that he move into Madison’s condo with her. But with Denver’s rent prices as high as they are, can you really blame him?

3. Health Nut

Colorado is one of the healthiest states in the country, and the emphasis on physical health was on full display during Mike’s dates. He spoke of his mysterious “national tribe” of wealthy men devoted to health and named “taking care of that body” as one of the top qualities he valued in his date, Megan. Mike took things a bit too far in episode three, however, when he seemingly questioned fellow contestant Jordan’s parenting because Jordan’s young son has Type 1 diabetes. “It’s just so crazy to me that that can be the case,” Mike said. “I have a friend who was pre-diabetic and he basically just changed up his diet and now he’s good.” Mike said this to Megan of all people, whose late father also had Type 1 diabetes.

2. Colorado So White

The lack of racial diversity in Colorado was a frequent topic of discussion among the people of color on Love is Blind. Patrick, in particular, spoke of the difficulty of growing up as the only Asian kid in his community. After Kacie, who is white, strong-armed him into revealing his ethnicity in the pods, Patrick opened up about being judged and stereotyped based on his race, despite him being “a complete Colorado bro.” To reassure him, Kacie proudly said her brother “only dates Asian girls” and her parents are “sick of these fuck boy little white dudes” that she brings home. Kacie went on to dump Patrick immediately after meeting in person due to her lack of physical attraction.

1. Ghosting

Even while isolated in a film studio with nothing to do but talk to each other, contestants still managed to continue toxic Denver dating patterns by ghosting one another. Anna ditched Blake and Patrick on episode three, leaving the show early without saying goodbye or explaining her departure to her dates. Learning no lessons about the pain of being stood up, Blake then followed Anna’s lead and left the show without saying goodbye to his other connection, Megan. You can take the dater out of Denver, but you can’t take Denver out of the dater.

Episodes seven through nine of Love is Blind: Denver will be released on October 8 on Netflix.
