The flames of the Fourmile Canyon fire have long been extinguished, but the scars remain — on the hillsides, and in the bank accounts and psyches of the victims. A Night at the Gold Hill Inn, a fundraiser at the historic Gold Hill Inn from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. tonight, will acknowledge the devastation of the fire that raged through the hills around the old mining town a year ago, while honoring the lives and communities that were saved. It will also serve up some great food: Many of Boulder’s best-known chefs — Dave Query of Big Red F Restaurants (Centro, Jax, Zolo and West End Tavern among them), Hugo Matheson of the Kitchen, Bradford Heap of SALT, Bobby Stuckey and Lachlan MacKinnon Patterson of Frasca — will join with Janos Wilder of Tucson’s Janos Restaurant to prepare a five-course dinner (with wines). The festivities will also include live music by Romano Paoletti & KC Groves, as well as an auction that includes travel and restaurant packages, as well as a pair of tickets to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival.
“It’s important to commemorate the first anniversary of the Fourmile Canyon fire, and also to let our neighbors know that we are not done with recovery,” says Amy Hardy, the mayor of Gold Hill and also a volunteer firefighter there.
Tickets are $200, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to charity — 50 percent to the Four Mile Resource Recovery Program helping victims of the fire, the rest to local fire departments. Reservations are required; to make yours, or to get more information, call the Gold Hill Inn at 303-443-6461.
