The United States Snowboard Association brings its 23rd annual Rocky Mountain Series to Copper Mountain this weekend, March 6-7, for the final event of the series before next month’s USASA Nationals (also at Copper, April 2-9). To compete in this weekend’s Superpipe, Slopestyle, Slalom, and Giant Slalom events, you’ll need to become a USASA member ($75) and register at www.rockymountainseries.com (first-timers, check out the USASA’s handy guide, Getting Started In Competitive Snowboarding). Another good excuse to sign up now? Copper’s also hosting Boardercross and Skiercross training sessions for members on the Vein Glory SBX / SX track April 1-2, before Nationals competition gets under way, and online registration is open now.
Even if you’re not planning to compete, this weekend will be a fun one up at Copper, especially for those of us kicking ourselves over not trekking up to Vancouver last month for the big show: Post up alongside the 22-foot Olympic-sized Superpipe at the bottom of Main Vein for the biggest spills and thrills.
