The Huichol people of Mexico, a spiritual and tight-knit clan of shamans and artisans, create art like that of no other culture on the planet, working in all nature’s brightest hues to produce intricate patterns and images from tiny seed beads and beeswax. Wixaritari: Huichol Art of Mexico, a large display of their work (borrowed from a host of museums in Mexico and enhanced by pieces from the collection), opens tonight at the Museo de las Américas with a reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. An exhibition like this one can only be breathtaking, especially if you are a fiend for color, and its amazingly modern graphic appeal is mighty inspiring.
